The Challenge:
Producing piping hot fresh bread for restaurants and retail stores daily in a cost efficient manner is no easy task. As fuel costs continue to rise, A&M Bronx Baking, a metropolitan New York bakery, was looking for ways to reduce operational costs while maintaining high quality product standards. Owner Peter Andolino reached out to Maxon Corporation for help and Maxon referred Peter to ETTER Engineering.
The Solution:
The ETTER team examined the facility and began the process of converting the bakery from heavy fuel oil to natural gas. ETTER develop a series of process and equipment upgrades to be completed over several weeks. ETTER was originally consulted to deal with the baking ovens, however, during the process of converting the facility to natural gas; ETTER replaced and upgrade the burners for the building’s boilers as well.
ETTER installed four Maxon natural gas burners in the industrial baking ovens, along with two Powerflame burners to power the facility’s boilers. Additional work included the production and installation of natural gas fuel trains and custom controls. The ETTER team was on site for a week and coordinated the work to ensure the bakery was able to operate during the transition.
The bottom line – A&M Bronx Baking is saving tens of thousands of dollars per year in fuel costs while improving reliability and reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
